  • I've tried everything. How do I know your training will work for my dog?
With so much information out there on Separation Anxiety, it is no wonder you might be feeling overwhelmed and confused. I am a certified Separation Anxiety specialist, meaning you can trust that my methods are evidence-based and effective. My approach is supported by the latest scientific research and has helped thousands of dogs just like yours overcome Separation Anxiety. Whilst there are never any guarantees with behavioural modification, my approach to Separation Anxiety gives your dog the best possible chance of success.
  • What training methods do you use?
My training methods are force-free. Using a technique called desensitisation, we will gradually and systematically increase the duration of alone time that your dog can cope with. This involves so much more than just steadily increasing duration and waiting for your dog to 'get used to it'. Every aspect of your training plan is customised to your individual dog and is updated daily based on how your dog responds to the training.
  • What do your training packages involve?
My training programmes are entirely virtual. This is the most suitable and effective approach for Separation Anxiety training. We will begin by completing an initial assessment together via video call. I will get to know you and your dog, and we will complete a few exercises together so I can see how your dog reacts when you leave. Based on my assessment, I will give you some recommendations on how we will move forward. You will receive your first training exercise the same day, and I will continue to provide daily exercises for you to complete (up to 5 exercises per week). Every aspect of your training plan is customised to your individual dog. My packages include video analysis of every training session you do, and your dog's training plans are updated daily based on your feedback and my observations of their body language during each session. We will also catch up regularly via video call to complete live exercises together, celebrate achievements and review your goals.
  • I'm not good with technology, can we still work together?
Absolutely. Although my training programmes do involve getting familiar with some technology, I will be here to support you with this. The most important thing that you will need before we get started is a device that you can watch your dog on during departure training exercises. This is necessary so that both you and I can observe your dog's body language during your sessions. You could use a laptop, iPad or tablet for this if you already have one. I do recommend having a dedicated device for watching your dog if possible - there are many pet/security cameras available online for a reasonable price (e.g. Wyze, Neos, Tapo, Wansview) which are great for this purpose.
  • How long will the training take?
It depends. Every dog is different and there is no one size fits all answer to this question. It is important to be aware that there are no quick fixes for Separation Anxiety. It will take months, not weeks, to achieve extended durations of relaxed alone time. But there is no faster way - the sooner you start your journey, the sooner you will achieve your goals. My 4 8 and 12 week packages are designed to get you on the right track and provide you with all the knowledge and skills you need to continue progressing towards your long term goals once your package has ended. If, at the end of your package you feel you would benefit from continued support then I have a range of exclusive offers available to anyone who has completed a 121 training package with me.
